Cleaning up the edges of boards and leveling the joints of assembled frames can be cumbersome with a full size smoother. For these tasks I reach for these small smoothing planes. They feel great in the hand and you will find yourself using them for many other tasks. they are pitched at 55 degrees and have a reasonably tight mouth to handle the most difficult to plane woods. These are very solid planes weighing just under 3 lbs. with Walnut infill. This plane is constructed using brass for the sides and steel for the soles. The standard infill is walnut, rosewood and ebony are also available.
650-55 Smoothing Plane is 1 15/16 wide, 6 1/2" long, 1 3/4" high, this plane untilizes a 7/32 thick x 1 1/2" wide 0-1 plane iron with the bevel ground at 30 degrees
